Crazy how that "conservative conspiracy theory" became law in New York state.

Real Clear Energy (5/14/23) column: "Recently, New York reached an agreement to become the first state to ban natural gas hookups in new construction, heralding a novel era of consumer restrictions. The ban will take effect for new constructions starting in 2026 according to the budget deal announced by Governor Hochul. With this deal, the state has leapfrogged ahead of Biden’s Department of Energy, which has released a proposed regulation that would effectively ban 50% of the gas stove market. Both Biden and Hochul support their bans as efforts to shift from natural gas consumption to electricity generated by 'zero-emissions' renewables. In this way, they hope to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, slow climate change, and avoid indoor air pollution. The problem is, natural gas bans are unlikely to work that way, and in the meantime, they restrict consumer choices and jeopardize the innovation that has led the U.S. to cleaner, safer technologies. Prioritizing climate change considerations over all else will serve only to stop consumers from using the type of energy that works best for their situations."

"Poor Americans are paying the price for Democrats’ plans to transition away from fossil fuels in the name of a cleaner environment. They are paying more for cars and electricity, and they are losing their jobs. But global emissions won’t be reduced if industrial production leaves America and sets up in China."

Paper plates and plastic forks. Take that, "green" control freaks.

Wall Street Journal (5/12/23) column: "The White House swears it isn’t gunning to ban gas stoves, but why would anyone believe that after its latest attack on functional home appliances? Last week the Energy Department dropped a sweeping proposal for 'efficiency' mandates on dishwashers. Did you enjoy last night’s spaghetti, still crusted on the plate? Now you can taste it twice. The proposal requires manufacturers to slash water use by a third, limiting machines to 3.2 gallons per cycle, down from the current federal limit of five gallons. New appliances must simultaneously cut estimated annual energy usage by nearly 30%. Americans have learned the hard way that stricter efficiency rules on already efficient appliances translate into higher costs, inconvenience, and ultimately waste. The Obama Administration’s dishwasher regulations raised the average price of a machine nearly $100, while producing a new norm of dirty forks and smelly glasses."

Deeds, not words.

What in the world is Macron and the EU talking about—I’ve been told that the green stuff HELPS the economy.  Have I been lied to?

Politico (5/12/23) reports: "Maecenas nec odio et ante tincidunt tempus. Donec vitae sapien ut libero venenatis faucibus. Nullam quis ante. Etiam sit amet orci eget eros faucibus tincidunt. Duis leo. Sed fringilla mauris sit amet nibh. Donec sodales sagittis magna. Sed consequat, leo eget bibendum sodales, augue velit cursus nunc. 'We have already passed lots of environmental regulations at European level, more than other countries,' he said. 'Now we should be implementing them, not making new changes in the rules or we are going to loose all our [industrial] players.' He insisted that, when it comes to the regulatory side, the EU is 'ahead of the Americans, the Chinese and of any other power in the world.' 'We must not make new changes to the rules," he added, warning that an unstable regulatory environment would only cause harm to investments."
