I want to ensure you saw my email a few days ago about the contents of this year’s State of Black America® report entitled Democracy in Peril: Confronting the Threat Within. It is critical that advocates like you are informed about the threats against Black and Brown communities in America

You believe like I do that Black Americans deserve peace and equality. Yet, the volatile rise of far-right and domestic extremism not only threatens the lives and quality of life of Black Americans, but is an existential threat to the very DNA of what it means to live in a nation that calls itself the land of the free.

Make no mistake. This vile language that dehumanizes people of color and justifies physical and political violence against us is no longer limited to passing out mimeographed leaflets on street corners or huddling in corners of the dark web. 

It is spewed and shared daily on the most viewed cable news channels on television and being openly embraced by elected officials and some of the highest-ranking political offices in the nation. 

We are in a battle for our lives. To win this war, we need every National Urban League supporter to join the fight and strengthen our communities to withstand the assaults against us.
