John, Democrats count on Black women to rally, get out the vote, and deliver monumental wins in every election. Now, with the direction of our country at stake, more Americans are choosing Black women to lead!

But here’s the problem: Our society always expects Black women leaders to fight the full might of the GOP and defend democracy on a shoestring budget. With extreme Republicans spending millions per race to defeat bold, community-driven candidates, we need to step up for Black women leaders the way they step up for us all.

Right now there are 27 Black women in Congress, 10 in statewide office, 368 in state legislatures, and nine leading as mayors of major cities. That’s progress, John, but it isn’t enough. 

Data shows that Black women running for office receive just ONE-THIRD of the funding compared to white women. We must do better so that all our communities have a real voice in our democracy.
