I want to start by wishing a happy Mother’s Day to three important mothers
in my own life: my mother Ellen, who raised eight kids with grace and
perseverance and who continues to serve as an example to all her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; my wife Terese, who is my biggest
supporter and the best mother to our four daughters and Mimi to our two
grandsons; and my daughter Elyse, who is now a mother to two sons of her
own.

I’m also wishing a day of celebration, rest, and love to the hard-working
mothers all across our Commonwealth. And to anyone experiencing this day
as one of loss or sadness, I hope it will pass gently.

Raising children is one of the hardest jobs there is — and we’re not doing
enough to support mothers in this country. That is why one of my leading
priorities as a U.S. Senator is fighting for our working families: through
improving child health and education programs, increasing access to SNAP
and other nutrition programs, making child care more affordable, ensuring
access to paid family and medical leave, and expanding pregnancy-related
and postpartum health care coverage.

Our work is far from over, which is why I’m running for re-election to
continue championing mothers and our working families. No one will work
harder than I will to make sure we aren’t just celebrating moms once a
year on Mother’s Day, but instead putting real solutions in place that
will help support them every day.

With gratitude,

Bob Casey
