John —

Today, I would like to honor the mothers, single parents, caretakers, and guardians in our lives who are the bedrock of each and every community.

As we take the day to celebrate motherhood in all its forms, it’s not lost on me that my right to choose whether or not to become a mom has been stripped away from me and millions of women across the country.

Since last summer, when the Supreme Court struck down the right to an abortion, things have only gotten worse. State legislatures have gone even further to pass dangerous laws that criminalize doctors, clinics, and patients. Every week there's another story of a woman having to travel out of state for proper health care, or literally waiting in the hospital parking lot until she's at risk of a heart attack so that she can receive life-saving treatment.

Right after Roe v. Wade was overturned last year, my opponent, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, voted against the Women's Health Protection Act which could have stopped all of this.

Reproductive choice is one of the fundamental freedoms I fought for as an Army pilot. I did not sacrifice years of my life to defend our country and fight for our rights just to watch politicians like Fitzpatrick take them away.

I am running for Congress to fight for meaningful policies that will support ALL mothers and caretakers, including paid family leave, universal childcare, affordable healthcare, funding our public schools, and so much more.

Generations of mothers and grandmothers came before us and raised hell to give us a better life. It’s on us to do the same for the next generation and beyond.

Thanks for reading. I hope it’s a special day for you and your loved ones.

Respectfully,

Ashley Ehasz
