Williams Weekly
Dear Texans,
Last week was another busy week in Washington, D.C. addressing your top concerns and the important issues facing our nation. Read below for an update on my work serving you.
Secure the Border Act Passes in the House
Joe Biden’s open border has failed America and Texans are shouldering the burden. In just two years, the Biden border crisis has spun out of control, encouraging over 5 million illegal crossings at our southern border, devastating local communities and state resources. House Republicans have stepped up and passed legislation to fix Biden’s broken border policies. I am proud to have voted in favor of the Secure the Border Act which will restart construction of the border wall, increase hiring of border patrol agents, protect children from human trafficking, and end dangerous catch and release. The alarms are going off, but Biden is asleep. It’s past time he wake up and stand up for America.
Small Business Committee Hearing
In the House Small Business Committee, we held a full hearing to address the decision by the Small Business Administration to make changes to the 7(a) lending program. These rule changes will result in unnecessary risks that would fall into the laps of taxpayers if the loans were to go bad. The SBA does not have a promising history in combatting fraud within its loan programs and should not open the door to more risk. Click here to watch to my opening remarks.
In Case You Missed It
This week I joined CPAC's America UnCanceled and Mark Davis to discuss the top issues facing our nation. Whether you live along the southern border or hundreds of miles away, Biden's mishandling of this national security crisis is putting Americans across the country at risk. Instead of reimplementing policies that work, the Biden Administration is pouring United States resources into "regional processing hubs” and sending troops to the border to do administrative work. These costly “solutions” are hardly a drop in the bucket. Click the links to listen!
