** Guarda do Embaú Surfonomics Study Completed
------------------------------------------------------------
The Brazilian World Surfing Reserve was the most recent location to undertake a Surfonomics study to quantify the economic impact surfing and surf resources have on their community. Understanding the benefits of a world-class surf spot in the local economy is essential in guiding policy makers in the right direction.

With data collected in 2018, research shows that surfing attracted 3,856 surfing tourists to Guarda do Embaú. On average, they brought two travel partners with them and stayed for 6 days in the village, spending on average US$61.00 per person per day. Based on these findings, it's estimated that surf tourism contributed approximately US$4.2 million to Guarda's local economy.
