John,
Mother’s Day is a holiday to celebrate the influence mothers have on our society and honor the sacrifices they make for their children. I’m especially thinking of my late mother, Luisa, today. She is my hero and the reason I entered public service.
She left school at 13 to work so she could support herself and her family. She would end up becoming New Haven’s longest serving Alder. My mother exemplified how when women are in positions of power - they get things done.
Luisa DeLauro taught me it’s not enough to just have a seat at the table, you need to have a voice at the table.
Women are the majority of Americans - we make up nearly half the workforce, we’re the majority of voters, and we spend more hours volunteering and giving back to our communities.
On this Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate the women breaking barriers, exemplifying what it means to stand up, use our voice, give back, and make a positive impact in our lives and our communities.
Sending you and yours all the best wishes on this beautiful Mother’s Day Sunday.
- Rosa
P.S. This Mother’s Day, will you join me in making a donation to the CT Dems in honor of the women in your life?
