Dear John,
Happy National Police Week!
AFGE proudly represents thousands of law enforcement officers (LEOs) at several federal agencies across the country including Veterans Affairs Police, Department of Defense Civilian Police, the Marshal’s Service, Federal Protective Service, the U.S. Mint, the Bureau of Prisons, and the National Zoological Park Police to name a few.
For years, AFGE has supported the LEO Equity Act which would guarantee that federal police officers receive full retirement benefits after their service. This important legislation would ensure equal treatment for AFGE officers by closing an existing loophole in the law that has shortchanged the pay and retirement benefits for thousands of officers within the Federal Protective Service, the VA and the U.S. Mint. Our union will not stop fighting until this legislation is signed into law.
This week we are pleased to share
a video message from AFGE National President Everett Kelley in honor of
National Police Week.
This National Police Week we share our gratitude to the tens of thousands of officers we represent. Thank you for your service to our country and for keeping the public safe.
In Solidarity,
AFGE
