Elise Stands with Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin
On Wednesday, Rensselaer County issued a State of Emergency in the county to prevent the unnecessary relocation of illegal immigrants from New York City due to Joe Biden, Kathy Hochul, and Eric Adams' failed policies. Elise proudly stood with Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin and issued the following statement:
“I fully support Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin’s decision to issue a State of Emergency in Rensselaer County, preventing forced relocation of illegal immigrants from New York City to the county. Upstate New York should not be forced to bear the burden of Far Left open border policies and the gross incompetency of Joe Biden and Kathy Hochul.
Upstate New York counties, such as Rensselaer County, are not equipped to carry the tremendous financial burden of an influx of illegal migrants from New York City. We are not a Far Left ‘sanctuary county’ and we support the rule of law in Upstate New York. Not only would forcibly relocating these illegal immigrants violate certain local laws, but it would also take away resources from already-struggling citizens of these counties, resulting in further devastation across New York State.
I cannot reiterate it enough - Biden must be held accountable for creating this border crisis and shifting the burden of illegal migrants flowing into our country onto vulnerable communities all across the state. I stand with County Executive Steve McLaughlin and pledge my full support in doing what is necessary to protect hardworking families in Upstate New York.”

PASSED: Elise Voted to Secure our Borders
On Thursday, The House GOP passed the Secure the Border Act of 2023 to put an end to Biden’s Border Crisis. The Secure the Border Act will put an end to catch and release, finish President Trump’s Border Wall, increase the number of Border Patrol Agents and give them bonus pay, and much more to SECURE OUR BORDER. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik issued the following statement after the passage the Secure the Border Act:
“Today, as the Biden administration allows Title 42 to expire, House Republicans are taking action to address the chaos at our nation’s borders by delivering legislation that will support our Border Patrol agents, block the flow of fentanyl into our country, and put an end to the Biden Border Crisis.
“Over the last two years, we have heard from Border Patrol agents, ranchers, families, and businesses who have suffered under President Biden’s open-border agenda, turning every city in America into a border city.
“H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, delivers on our Commitment to America to end this crisis. Our plan will increase the number of Border Patrol agents, provide effective border enforcement technology, resume construction of the border wall, and end the administration’s catch and release policy.
“While President Biden and Washington Democrats continue to ignore the chaos at our border, House Republicans are taking charge by passing the strongest border security bill this country has ever seen. The American people deserve nothing less.”
