John,
Across the country, millions of women, LGBTQI+ people, and their families rely on federal services to access health care, put food on the table, and keep a roof over their heads.
This Mother’s Day, we’re fighting back against Kevin McCarthy’s cruel cuts―that are particularly harmful to women and families. Click here to send a message to your senators and representative and demand a clean debt ceiling vote with no cuts that harm women and families.
TAKE ACTION
Between cuts and burdensome reporting requirements passed by the House on Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and housing, millions of people would be impacted by Kevin McCarthy’s cruel bill.
According to our allies at the National Women’s Law Center:
-
Women are the majority of adult Medicaid users, which covers services including birth control, maternity care, prescription drugs, home and community based services, and more that address women’s major health needs throughout their lives.1,2
-
Women are 63% of adult SNAP users, and 92% of the SNAP-using households with children headed by a single adult.
-
Women are 85% of the adults served by TANF.
-
A full 75% of the households receiving rental assistance are headed by women, as are two-thirds of the recipients of emergency rental assistance.3
-
Women disproportionately take on care responsibilities, so taking away child care hurts their ability to stay employed.4
-
And 62% of those pregnant, post-partum, and breastfeeding mothers receiving nutrition assistance through WIC are women of color.
Instead of cuts to critical programs and services, we’re demanding investments in women, families, and vulnerable communities.
Click here to write to your senators and representative and demand a clean debt ceiling vote with no cuts that impact millions of mothers and their families across the country.
Thank you for fighting for a future that includes all of us.
