Hello Friend!

What do we do when workers' rights are under attack? Stand up, fight back!

Tomorrow begins week three of the Writers Guild of America strike. The bosses continue to refuse to offer the workers the the fair pay and fair work conditions they deserve. But the working class make the goods, not the boss! This strike has shut down film and television production across the country, with workers across unions and industries refusing to cross the picket-line. That's what we mean by worker power!

As socialists, when workers need our help, we know we need to be there to answer that call with support and solidarity. DSA-LA members have been out on the picket lines across Los Angeles in droves the last few weeks. And folks marching for their rights have been incredibly grateful. On Friday, a Hollywood Labor member received a text from a strike captain saying:

"Please thank DSA again for us — you all kept us going."

We won't stop supporting them until they've got their contract. Whether it lasts a few more weeks or a few more months, we all need to get out there and support workers flexing their power. That's what it means to be #StrikeReady, and we've pledged to show up at the picket-line wherever and whenever we're needed. This is shaping up to be another red-hot Strike Summer. Make sure you're ready to go.

Here's how you can help with the WGA strike!

🎬 Make sure you are signed up for strike updates from our Hollywood Labor team! You'll get frequent news, info and alerts about what's going with contract negotiations and strike support during the week!

🍿 Donate to THE SNACKLIST - and sign up for THE SNACKPACK! At the beginning of the strike, DSA-LA launched The Snacklist to fundraise to deliver food, snacks and solidarity to strikers on the picket-lines. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. In just a few weeks, we've raised over $20,000! We've been out at strike locations across LA bringing out hot coffee, cold water, tasty burritos, delicious empanadas, and more. If you haven't donated yet, please consider contributing. Every dollar makes a huge difference.

As the strike continues, we'll need your help to make sure we can deliver the supplies that picketers need! That's why we're launching THE SNACKPACK! It's a team of volunteers to help distribute and drop off items and supplies. If you work a 9-5 job, this is a great way to help out before you start work and/or during your lunch break! Take a few minutes out of your day to show up for WGA workers!

We also have a new union-printed HOLLYWOOD STRIKE shirt on our merch shop! All profits for this shirt will be equally split between The Snacklist, the Entertainment Community Fund and Solidarity & Snacks!

🪧 Join your DSA-LA elected officials on the picket-line TOMORROW! We're excited to have Los Angeles City Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez and Hugo Soto-Martinez, Los Angeles Unified School Boardmember Dr. Rocío Rivas, and Burbank Mayor Konstantine Anthony turning out to show their support for WGA workers tomorrow morning at Warner Bros Studios in Burbank!

If you've never been to a strike or picket before, don't stress! First-timers are more than welcome, we'll show you the ropes! Don't miss it!

✊ As always, you can always check out the WGA's official official schedule for picket locations. We'll continue mobilizing our members to our adopted picket-lines, but feel encouraged to head out to a picket-line that's most convenient for you! Everybody there will be so happy to see you.

This fight isn't just about film and TV writers. It's about the working class empowering themselves to fight the bosses and capitalists who are working hard to grind us all down. Keep showing you support, and as always, solidarity forever!
