Dear John,

Health Affairs Scholar is now accepting submissions. Visit the Health Affairs Scholar site to find detailed information about the new journal's scope and purpose, its open access model, and author guidelines.
Health Affairs events are a great opportunity to hear directly from influential health policy experts and public officials involved in health care, and this month we're hosting several events that will be open to the public.

Join us on Wednesday, May 17, for a Policy Spotlight featuring Health Affairs Editor-in-Chief Alan Weil and Dawn O’Connell, the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

On Tuesday, May 23, we will also host a Lunch and Learn, "A Seat For All: Advancing Racial Equity In Scholarly Publishing Of Health Policy And Health Services Research."

The session will be hosted by University of California Davis Professor Michelle Ko, a member of the Health Equity Advisory Committee, and feature Tulane University Assistant Professor Andrew Anderson, a recent graduate of the Health Affairs Health Equity Fellows Training (HEFT) program.

Anderson is the first graduate of HEFT to publish work in Health Affairs. Check out his article, "The Costs Of Disparities In Preventable Heart Failure Hospitalizations In The US South, 2015–17," in the May issue.

Join us this month and register for our upcoming events.

Health Affairs is launching a contest! The premise is simple. Finish the statement "You’re A Health Policy Wonk If…"

We'll share some of the submissions on Forefront in July, and the first-place winner of the contest will receive a Health Affairs tumbler and a free Unlimited membership for a year. Submit by May 31.
