** Finally! China to ban use of illegal timber ([link removed])

For 20 years we've urged China to stop using illegal timber – and, finally, it's changing its laws to ban buying, processing or transporting illegally sourced wood! China is the world's largest importer of wood and exporter of wood products. It's also the largest international consumer of illegal wood. Faith Doherty, our Forests Campaign Leader, said: "This is potentially huge, a real game-changer for the future of the planet's precious forests and the battle against dangerous climate change."

** China wildlife trade ban should be permanent ([link removed])

With China's coronavirus outbreak linked to a market where wild animals and fresh meat are sold, we support those calling for a temporary trade ban to be made permanent and urge it be extended to all parts and products of wildlife threatened by trade.

** Huge pangolin scale bust ([link removed])

Nigeria Customs has seized a staggering 9.5-tonnes of pangolin scales, roughly equating to 9,500 dead pangolins, the world's only scaled mammal. We believe this haul should spur the Government to proactively investigate the criminal networks involved.
