Adam Schiff for Senate

John — Sometimes the best way to expose Republican hypocrisy is by confronting them directly.

That’s what Adam just did on the committee that MAGA Republican Jim Jordan chairs.

Before we explain, can you rush a $10 contribution to Adam’s campaign to help him take the fight to MAGA Republicans in the Senate?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

You see, another MAGA Republican — Matt Gaetz — thinks it would be a bright idea to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. He’s introduced legislation that would do just that.

That’s right — with mass shootings every day and week, he wants to abolish the agency trying to enforce existing gun laws, and crack down on gun crimes and gun trafficking. With all of the horrific gun violence, hate crimes, and threats of white supremacist terror that have spiked all across the country in recent years, we’re sure you will agree with Adam that this isn’t such a bright idea.

So Adam asked: “Mr. Chairman, Mr. Jordan, would you like me to yield to you to express your support for Mr. Gaetz’s legislation to defund the ATF?”

Jim Jordan: “I’m gonna yield to Mr. Gaetz.”

Adam: “No, I’m yielding to you, Mr. Jordan.”

Jim Jordan: “I support Mr. Gaetz’s legislation to send a message to the ATF.”

Adam: “So you support the legislation to defund the ATF.”

Jim Jordan: “I didn’t say that. I said I support the legislation to send a message to the ATF.”

Adam: “It says it would abolish, it would eliminate the Bureau immediately after enactment. Do you support that? Yes or no.”

Jim Jordan: “I’ve given my answer, Mr. Schiff.”

Adam: “Okay, I guess your answer is that you don’t support it, or you’re afraid to say that you do.”

Adam offered to yield to each and every MAGA Republican on the committee and answer the simple yes or no question.

But no one had a straight answer about whether they were willing to abolish an entire federal law enforcement agency. (Except Gaetz, of course, who introduced the dangerous idea.)

John, Republicans have to walk a fine line. They thump their chests and decry defunding the police, while indulging the far-right extremists of their party who fought the police on January 6th and trying to abolish whole federal law enforcement agencies.

Adam is working every day to hold MAGA Republicans accountable and defend our democracy. But he needs your help. Can you chip in $10 today?

Even as Adam campaigns for the Senate, he’s continuing to do everything he can in the House to fight back against the extreme far-right majority led by the likes of Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, and Kevin McCarthy. And he’s so grateful to have you with him.

Thank you,

— Team Schiff
