Lesko Statement on the House Passage of the Secure the Border Act

I released the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the Secure the Border Act:

"I was proud to vote for House Republicans’ H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act. I represent a border state and have been to the southern border multiple times. We are unquestionably facing a historic border crisis, yet the Biden Administration has wrongly allowed Title 42 to expire without a plan to secure our southern border. This will be an unmitigated disaster, and it is just the latest in a long line of catastrophic border policies from this administration.

House Republicans have a solution. The Secure the Border Act is a critical piece of legislation to disincentivize illegal immigration, restart construction of the border wall, reverse the Biden Administration’s en masse parole policy, end catch and release, and reinstate President Trump’s successful Remain in Mexico policy. House Republicans have proven we are the party of secure borders, and I will continue to work to restore our nation’s border security and protect Arizona’s communities. It’s time for President Biden and congressional Democrats to take responsibility for this crisis and work with Republicans to secure the border."

Lesko Reintroduces Legislation to Update FCC Rules, Support Amateur Radio Operators

I reintroduced the Amateur Radio Communications Improvement Act to eliminate the current Symbol Rate Limit set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and replace it with a 2.8 kilohertz (kHz) bandwidth limit. The bill brings regulations up to speed with modern technological advances in amateur radio. Increased amounts of data can be put on the spectrum due to advances in modern technology, so there is little need for the FCC to place limits on symbol rates. I was proud to reintroduce this important legislation to update the FCC’s rules and increase the speed of transmission so that amateur radio operators can more efficiently and effectively transmit messages during times of crisis, such as natural disasters.

Lesko Reintroduces Legislation To Prioritize National Security Over Gender Ideology

I introduced the Traditional Screening Application (TSA) Act and the Traditional Passport Act (TPA) to restrict the Biden Administration from allowing individuals to select “X” as their gender or sex designation on travel documents, including passports and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck applications. The Biden Administration should be more focused on screening and reviewing travelers to protect the homeland, rather than pushing the radical left’s gender ideology. I was pleased to once again introduce these two important pieces of legislation to place combating global security threats and protecting our national security over the far left’s woke agenda.

Lesko Demands Answers on Treatment of January 6 Defendants

I led a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland to ask the Department of Justice to investigate the allegations of mistreatment of the defendants being held in Washington, D.C. while awaiting trial on charges related to the events of January 6, 2021. There have been numerous confirmed and alleged civil rights violations against these defendants by the D.C. Department of Corrections. That is why my congressional colleagues and I are urging the DOJ to immediately launch an investigation into these unacceptable violations of Americans' rights.

Lesko Stands Up for Gas Stoves

GET THE FACTS: The Department of Energy's War on Gas Stoves

The Biden Administration's Department of Energy (DOE) has proposed a rule that is effectively a back-door attempt to ban Americans' gas stove appliances. This proposed rule sets energy conservation standards for consumer conventional cooking products at the most stringent maximum energy consumption requirement for gas cooktops, which is at the maximum technologically feasible (“max-tech”) level. Only 4 percent of gas cooktops on the market meet the “max-tech” requirements, which would result in 96 percent of the products available today being eliminated from the market. That is simply unacceptable. The DOE claimed this would save consumers money, yet the DOE's  own estimate predicts this will save only $21.89 per stove over a 14-year period, or $1.50 per year or 12 cents a month. For this very reason, I have introduced the Save Our Gas Stoves Act. This common-sense legislation prohibits the Secretary of Energy from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing the DOE's proposed rule.
