It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
Before we get started, I’d like to wish our beloved state a 165th birthday, which was on Wednesday. It's an honor to serve the people of this great state in Congress!
Once again, the Biden administration has shown their complete disregard for the security and well-being of Americans with their lackadaisical attitude toward the southern border crisis. Now, our brave agents are left to face an overwhelming surge of migrants, including unaccompanied children and asylum seekers. While the administration sits on its hands, Congress acted by passing the Secure the Border Act, which cuts asylum loopholes, finishes the wall, and takes back control of the border.
Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Minnewaska Area High School and learning about the challenges the school district is up against. One pressing issue brought to my attention is the shortage of childcare options in the community. The district has proposed an ambitious plan to create space for 160 daycare placements at the elementary school location in Glenwood, but this comes at a significant cost of approximately $9 million, with only $3.2 million currently covered by a grant from the USDA. I plan to follow up on the grant application and gather more information to see how I can best support the district's efforts to expand the childcare infrastructure.
