John,

Does your Congressional district look like a salamander? It might. The term “gerrymandering” comes from the 1812 congressional redistricting in Massachusetts in which Governor Elbridge GERRY created a district resembling a salaMANDER.

Gerrymandering is a blatant attempt to marginalize targeted groups of voters by diluting their representation. The goal is for one political party to have an advantage it didn’t earn. It’s a common form of voter suppression that erodes the very foundation of our participatory democracy. It's unfair, undemocratic, and it needs to stop. The Union can help show you how.

Join us virtually on Saturday, May 25th from 8 to 9p.m. ET for an engaging discussion of gerrymandering and its impact on our country, our states, and our districts. You’ll learn what you can do to combat gerrymandering in your community and beyond.

Our special guest will be filmmaker Robert Millman, whose film “Line in the Street” documents the fight over gerrymandering in Pennsylvania.

You’ll also learn how you can get involved in The Union’s ongoing work to preserve our democracy.

Register for this informative event and ask all your friends and family interested in preserving our democracy to attend, too.
