Dear Friend,
I wanted to follow up on my message from Thursday. You may remember that I volunteer with Project HOPE’s Neonatal Nurse Education Program in Sierra Leone, where maternal and neonatal mortality rates are some of this highest in the world. Since Project HOPE stepped in to help, more nurses have gotten the skills they need to make sure healthy moms take home healthy babies.
Still, too many vulnerable babies and children aren’t getting the medical care they need — especially in places like Ethiopia, Colombia and the Dominican Republic where other crises have pushed health care systems to the brink of complete disaster.
Please make your gift now, when every $1 becomes $2 to support neonatal nurses and other health workers like me — as well as the moms, babies and families we care for.
I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished with our partners and counterparts in Sierra Leone — especially the development of programs that will train new generations of neonatal nurses. As a result, I know even more newborns will grow up to be healthy, happy, resilient children.
