John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:Could "national popular vote" become reality? ([link removed]
As of right now, 15 states and the District of Columbia have passed national popular vote laws, accounting for 195 electoral votes. With just 75 more electoral votes, national popular vote laws would effectively abolish the Electoral College. In Michigan--the next battleground state--the campaign for national popular vote is being funded almost exclusively by donors outside the state. The U.S. has seen an estimated 1,000 percent rise in gender dysphoria over the past decade. Such shifts don't occur in a vacuum. For example, organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign have been working behind the scenes, fueling the explosion in kids identifying as trans by funding teacher conferences to push this radical ideology. CRC's Kali Fontanilla identifies teachers as a critical element in the trend here ([link removed] is "home equity theft"? ([link removed]
The Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments on "home equity theft." A handful of states allow this a controversial practice in which the government can foreclose on a property for unpaid property taxes and confiscate the property’s entire net worth, including any amount in excess of owed taxes and fines. CRC's Robert Stilson finds that support for the property owner came from across the ideological spectrum here ([link removed] conservative donors know where their money is going? ([link removed]
Conservative philanthropy in America has long been on the defensive, mostly against harsh critiques from liberals and progressives. But why shouldn't philanthropy--conservative philanthropy in particular--be questioned? Bradley Prize recipient John H. Cochrane among others has raised existential questions about philanthropy, including some that conservative philanthropy needs to answer to flourish and resist the tendency to drift leftward. CRC's Michael Hartmann explores some tough questions here ([link removed]

The Truth About TikTok

Is TikTok really a threat to kids? Does it steal your data? Is it really a threat to America's national security?

Those are bold claims. It's easy to think that anyone who makes them is some kind of conspiracy nut. But the group of people who believe TikTok is a threat now includes Democratic and Republican Members of Congress. A bipartisan committee in Congress recently held a hearing to examine TikTok's behavior.

Women's Right to Self-Defense
In this episode ([link removed] With news last month that Visa and Mastercard had paused a plan to track gun purchases, and last year’s Supreme Court decision that struck down a New York law that had restricted concealed firearms used for self-defense, conservatives seem to be winning on the gun issue.

In fact, more women and minorities—and even progressives—are buying guns for self-defense. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2021 that during the COVID pandemic, gun sales soared, and more than half of those buyers were women.

Joining Mike Watson and Sarah Lee is Dianna Muller, the founder of DC Project, a women-focused guns rights nonprofit in DC dedicated to fighting for the constitutional right to self-defense.
