The Bird Migration Explorer Knows Your Favorite Warbler’s Wherabouts

The Yellow Warbler ([link removed]) didn't get its name by mistake. If you head to some of your local freshwater spots—whether it be a pond, lake, stream, or river—you could be rewarded with this warbler’s flash of luminous yellow.

You can find Yellow Warblers all across the United States and Canada during their migration and breeding seasons, but as with anything else, timing is everything. With the Bird Migration Explorer ([link removed]) (also available in Spanish ([link removed]), you can see exactly when Yellow Warblers may stop by.

Although Yellow Warblers are one of our most widely distributed warblers, they have greatly suffered habitat loss under drought and general degradation of rivers and waterways. Migratory birds like the Yellow Warbler depend on healthy waters for foraging, resting, safe passage during migration and breeding.

This World Migratory Bird Day, get to know more about birds like the Yellow Warbler, their epic journeys, and the challenges they face.
