Appearing at a campaign event, Cleveland businessman and OH GOP Senate Candidate Bernie Moreno said there should be reparations for descendants of white Union soldiers who fought in the Civil War, alluding to the ongoing debate over reparations for descendants of enslaved Black people. ⇩ READ HERE ⇩
“They talk about reparations. Where are the reparations for the people, for the North, who died to save the lives of Black people?" Moreno said. "I know it’s not politically correct to say that, but you know what, we've got to stop being politically correct.”
It’s as simple as this: we’re not going to win a GOP Senate majority and STOP THE DEMOCRATS if we embrace left-wing notions of ‘reparations’ by saying they should go to the white descendants of Union soldiers.
We have to offer the rest of the country a positive vision for the future of our country.
We have to appeal to the better angels of hard-working Americans who may be at odds with elements of the broader GOP messaging but don’t condone divisive policies such as reparations.
