Republicans in the Wisconsin State Legislature are planning on nixing over 500 progressive reforms from Governor Evers’ proposed State budget.

Let me break it down for you. These are just a few of the (non-controversial) benefits they don’t want Wisconsinites to have:

1. Three months of paid leave for family or medical reasons.
2. Funding for mental health staff and suicide prevention programs in schools.
3. Financial literacy, computer science, and math programs in schools.
4. Requirements for schools to carry naloxone or other medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.
5. Automatic voter registration for Wisconsin drivers.
6. Subsidized tuition costs for low-income students in the University of Wisconsin school system.
7. An office within the Wisconsin Elections Commission aimed at responding to misinformation.
8. Requirements for lawmakers to keep their emails as public records.

And hundreds of more *critical* benefits that could improve the lives of Wisconsinites.

Make no mistake, Republicans WILL spare EVERY expense when it comes to truly benefitting the lives of Wisconsinites.

Why? Because implementing automatic voter registration, funding mental health, and providing paid family leave will go against their self interests. They don’t want to make it easier for us to vote, they don’t want to protect our kids, and they don’t want to give parents proper time with their new children without having to risk a paycheck or their job.

We are in this fight to change exactly that. Together, we can elect lawmakers that will create groundbreaking changes across the country that will benefit people, not politicians.

This is not the first time this has happened. Republicans have been turning down landmark budgetary proposals from Governor Evers since he was elected in 2018.

Wisconsin is being controlled by the Republican state legislature, and it’s time that we stand up for the majority in our state and bring back pro-democracy voices.
