John,

I’m headed to Philadelphia today to knock doors for my dear friend Helen Gym, who’s running for Mayor there this Tuesday. (Bernie and AOC will be there for a GOTV rally for Helen on Sunday, but I’m looking forward to spending Mother’s Day back in Brooklyn).

I’ve known Helen for a decade and I can tell you this from first-hand experience: Helen is someone you want by your side when the going gets tough. When other people throw up their hands or walk away from hard problems, that’s when Helen doubles down. There’s no one more passionate, no one more committed, no one who will work harder for Philly’s families.

Can you make a donation of $10 to Helen’s Gym’s campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia? Any amount you’re able to give will have a direct and immediate impact before Election Day on May 16. Your donation will be split between Helen’s campaign and my re-election campaign. [[link removed]]

As a public school teacher, as a mom and parent activist, as a community organizer working with immigrant communities, Helen spent two decades at the grassroots level defending public education and strengthening Philadelphia’s neighborhoods.

In 2015, Helen was elected to the Philadelphia City Council – where she’s had a huge impact. She fought and won a campaign to bring clean water to Philly’s public schools (yes, that was necessary). She built one of the most successful eviction prevention programs in the nation – keeping thousands of families in their homes. She passed Philadelphia’s Fair Workweek law that guarantees stable schedules and predictable pay for workers.

(You can see why we're friends).

Now, Helen is running an inspiring campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia, showing how bold progressive goals and effective government go together.

In times of uncertainty, electing strong, progressive leaders to local government has never been more important. That’s why I’m so excited about Helen’s campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia — and why I hope you’ll contribute to her today.

Will you please join me in supporting Helen Gym for Mayor of Philadelphia with a $10 donation? Your donation will be split between Helen’s campaign and my re-election campaign. [[link removed]]

Thanks for standing with Helen,

Brad
