John,
Elon Musk just handed Tucker Carlson a global megaphone by agreeing to put his "show" on Twitter.
Carlson was just fired by Fox News in the US for pushing his white supremacist and misogynist views in private texts, as well as knowingly pushing US election lies on air to millions.
Ad execs are already fleeing because Musk has let hundreds of far right extremists back on Twitter. Now with racist Carlson about to launch his new show directly on the platform, let’s call on all advertisers to dump Twitter!
Amazon, Apple, Disney: cancel all Twitter ads!
Since Musk bought Twitter and stripped it of any meaningful content moderation, neo-Nazis and QAnon believers have been running amok on the platform. Researchers found that slurs against Black Americans tripled after Musk became Twitter’s owner.
Fifty of Twitter’s top advertisers have already walked away - big name brands like Chevrolet and Chipotle knew that the risk of their brand appearing next to tweets from neo-Nazis calling for ethnic cleansing wasn’t worth it.
Now with Tucker Carlson getting ready to spout his toxic and hateful lies, we need to remind advertisers of the massive reputational risk advertising on this platform poses.
Ekō members have persuaded advertisers to walk away from tech platforms before. In 2020, we piled pressure on some of the biggest advertisers to boycott Facebook, forcing Mark Zuckerberg to crack down on hateful content on his platform. Now, let’s do it again and tell major brands to dump Twitter.
Will you tell Amazon, Apple, Disney and others to walk away from Twitter?
