Gov. Justice breaks ground on site for new Milton Elementary School

Gov. Jim Justice broke ground at the new Milton Elementary School site in Cabell County. Unlike the current school, the replacement will be outside the flood zone. The project was included in the 2020 Cabell County Schools Bond Election. It was the largest school bond in state history, totaling $87.5 million.

The Huntington Regional Chambers of Commerce, the Huntington Area Development Council, and others supported the bond publicly. The goal is to boost the area's economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic, immediately providing jobs and attracting future business investments.

Gov. Justice attends ribbon-cutting for new Frito-Lay distribution center

Gov. Justice attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new Frito-Lay distribution center in Scott Depot earlier this week.

As part of the ceremony, Frito-Lay unveiled two newly-redesigned tractor trailers featuring the "Almost Heaven" West Virginia logo. This was done to honor the facility, its associates, and Frito-Lay's dedication to West Virginia.

The project represents a $16 million investment and will employ over 100 dedicated workers, with 25 additional new jobs created.

Gov. Justice delivers 2023 Wheeling University commencement speech

Gov. Justice delivered Wheeling University's 2023 commencement speech last Saturday. During his address, he emphasized the importance of education, hard work, and perseverance in achieving success. He also encouraged graduates to be active members of their communities and use their skills and knowledge to impact the world positively.

Gov. Justice delivers Governor's Cup to Cabell Midland High School Marching Knights

Gov. Justice, earlier this week, visited the Cabell Midland High School Marching Knights to deliver the 2022 Governor’s Cup, which is given to the top Band in the state. They held a special performance for the Babydog and the Governor in honor of accepting the award.

The 2023 West Virginia Marching Band Invitational ([link removed]) is scheduled for October 28 in Charleston.

Gov. Justice hosted West Virginia native and former NASA engineer Homer Hickam earlier this week to discuss the announcement of his new movie, "December Sky." Along with Hickam, Gov. Justice also spoke with actor Kevin Sizemore, producers Robert and Jeff Tinnell, and Burke Allen of Allen Media Strategies, all of whom are also West Virginia natives.

Gov. Justice appoints Paul W. Gwaltney, Jr. to the 17th Judicial Circuit

Gov. Justice announced this week that he has appointed Paul W. Gwaltney, Jr. as Judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit which serves Monongalia County.

Gwaltney graduated in the top 15 percent of his class at WVU College of Law in 2003, where he served on West Virginia Law Review as an associate editor and an executive research editor.

Gov. Justice appoints Robert E. Ryan to the 21st Judicial Circuit
[link removed]
Gov. Justice announced this week that he has appointed Robert E. Ryan as Judge for the 21st Judicial Circuit, which serves Mineral, Grant, and Tucker counties.

Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from WVU in 1996 and then went on to attend Washington and Lee University School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2000. Currently, Ryan is licensed to practice law in four states–West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, as well as in five of the United States District Courts.
