Under President Joe Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, our nation's sovereignty has been defiled and our border has been violated. There is an invasion taking place on our southern border, and 700,000 would-be illegal aliens have been staging in Mexico waiting for the lapse of Title 42, which occurred yesterday. This is now overwhelming our border even further. That's why I voted YES to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023. This bill would assist in ending Joe Biden's border catastrophe. It includes targeted policies to end abuse of our immigration loopholes and mandates the completion of the border wall. We cannot allow Biden and Mayorkas to succeed in their efforts to destroy border security, and I will do everything in my power to stop them.
Additionally, while considering a resolution honoring police, I used my voice in Congress to recognize the men and women in blue. In what should have been a collaborative moment between Republicans and Democrats honoring our brave police officers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe, House Judiciary Democrats used their time to launch attacks against my legislation to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). They claimed my legislation to defund the weaponized ATF is the same as calling for the defunding of police, which is actually what the woke left has been doing all along. Let me be clear — there's a stark difference between the men and women who serve in local police departments that protect our communities, and weaponized federal agencies that target those who don't support Joe Biden's anti-Second Amendment policies. Next week is National Police Week, a time for a grateful nation to pause and pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service, and I encourage all Northwest Floridians to join me in praying for and showing support for our law enforcement officers.

Next week will mark the 60th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy authorizing the President of the United States to declare the week of May 15th as National Police Week. During debate on police-related legislation in the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, I utilized my time to pay special recognition and respect to those officers who were killed in the line of duty in the previous year and honor our law enforcement community.
On the other hand, House Judiciary Democrats tried to attack my Republican colleagues and me for passing a resolution that honors police. The entire Democrat Party ought to be ashamed their representatives argued against this resolution in advance of a national week of recognition for law enforcement.

On Wednesday, I joined Sean Hannity to expose the CIA's corrupt interference in the 2020 presidential election. When Hunter Biden's laptop came to light amidst his father's run for President, the CIA intervened by recruiting 51 former intelligence officials to sign a letter labeling it "Russian disinformation." On top of that, one of the intelligence officials who was recruited wanted a book they wrote approved, so the CIA said they must sign the letter or their book had no chance of distribution. That's a prime example of clear coercion used by our government to influence the 2020 election.

Last year, $788 million of stocks were traded by Members of Congress. On Wednesday, I went on CNBC to explain why that's a slap in the face to the American people.
About one of every four Members of Congress engages in disclosed trades that almost always generate enormous returns. In Washington, the system has been Republicans vs. Democrats for far too long. The fallacy of a system like the one we currently have is that Members of Congress endlessly criticize one another while ignoring — and frequently profiting from — institutional corruption, like congressional stock trading. It should NOT be allowed, and Members of Congress should focus on their constituents, not their stock portfolios. Together with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, I'm proud to support a bill that would make stock trading by Members of Congress illegal.

On Wednesday, I had the privilege of speaking with pastors visiting from the Sunshine State. Northwest Florida's conservative values are rooted in faith, and I take immense pride in bringing God's message to Congress. I want to personally thank all the pastors for allowing me the chance to join them in prayer. As I continue to fight in Washington, I can rest assured knowing I have these great leaders uplifting our communities back home.

7th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP MEMORIAL AND CHANGE OF COMMAND
On Thursday, my team was honored to attend the Airborne 7th Special Forces Group's Memorial Wall Ceremony at Camp Bull Simons. This somber event was part of Red Empire Week, a week-long event for soldiers, alumni, community partners, and family members of 7th Special Forces Group that honors their service and sacrifice. Group Commander Colonel Kevin Trujillo oversaw the addition of four new names to the 7th SFG (A) Memorial Wall. The names of those heroes are listed below:
- Sergeant First Class Levi A. Presley
- Private First Class Dion Stewart Jr.
- Master Sergeant William L Crays
- Staff Sergeant George L. Taber V
Their loss is felt across the Northwest Florida community, and their memory will never fade.
Additionally, my team was privileged to attend the 7th SFG (A)'s Change of Command ceremony. I'd like to thank Lieutenant Colonels Loconsolo and Hershberger for their honorable service to 1st and 2nd Battalions. As these warriors transition into new roles, I'd also like to welcome aboard the two new leaders who were recognized at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonels Gonzalez and Webb. My staff was honored to witness them receive their battalions’ colors and take command on Thursday. Congratulations and best of luck gentlemen!
