Here’s what’s happened in court today and yesterday.

• Today, a trial court in Arizona held oral argument on whether the one remaining claim in 2022 GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s election contest will go to trial. Read our Twitter thread to see what went down.

• Also today, a federal judge scheduled a hearing in a lawsuit challenging two Mississippi laws for May 22. The judge also blocked the chief justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court from appointing new judges in Jackson as provided by one of the laws.

• Yesterday, the Washington Supreme Court held oral argument in a lawsuit targeting the state’s Voting Rights Act. Find out what happened here.

• Also yesterday, a trial court in Arkansas dismissed a lawsuit challenging the state’s new congressional map for diluting the voting strength of Black voters.

Here are some other updates from the last few days.

• Ohio voters and the coalition One Person, One Vote filed a lawsuit against a proposed amendment that would make ballot measures more difficult. The amendment is scheduled to go before the voters on Aug. 8, but the complaint contends that it is illegal for Ohio to hold a statewide election on this date.

• Yesterday, Virginia withdrew from the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), the latest in a string of states to make such a move. These Republican-controlled states often cite vague concerns about privacy or right-wing election conspiracies to justify their withdrawals.

Here's what to expect coming up.

• On Monday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court will release an order list for pending cases. We may find out what the court wants to do with Moore v. Harper now that additional briefing is complete.
