BIG NEWS! The PCCC proudly endorses Helen Gym for Mayor of Philadelphia!
Weeks after voters elected progressive Brandon Johnson for Mayor in Chicago, Helen Gym is running in Philadelphia to lead a true progressive investment agenda that includes rebuilding crumbling schools, greening neighborhoods, and guaranteeing jobs to at-risk youth.
In heavily Democratic Philadelphia, the winner of next week’s primary is all but assured to win in November -- and just today a new poll shows Helen surging into the lead in this crowded primary field with 21% of the vote.
That sounds good, but there’s a major threat. A shady multi-billionaire Republican donor has already pumped nearly a million dollars into ads in this race -- almost all attacking Helen Gym.
Helen and a large citywide coordinated campaign has been fighting back by knocking on more than 20,000 doors each week. With Election Day this coming Tuesday, it is critical that this be the biggest weekend yet.
This billionaire is named Jeffrey Yass and he is the richest person in Pennsylvania. Yass has spent a fortune funding January 6th insurrectionists, electing hard right-wing MAGA extremists, and waging war on public school funding.
Yass has worked overtime to pass extreme anti-worker policies, and that’s why Helen Gym is one of his least favorite Philadelphians. Helen scares the hell out of billionaires like Yass -- because she’s the only candidate with the track record and vision to take powerful interests and the status quo.
As an organizer, she successfully fought attempts to build stadiums and casinos and kept residents and small businesses from being displaced.
As a City Councilmember, she restored the arts, music, social workers, counselors, nurses, and safe drinking water to all public schools.
Helen worked with grassroots groups to develop and pass the nation's strongest eviction diversion program, which reduced evictions by more than 70%, saved tens of thousands of lives during the pandemic according to Pew’s analysis, and was included in the Biden Administration’s Renters Bill of Rights.
In addition to the PCCC, Helen is endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, teachers unions, Working Families Party, Our Revolution, and The Sunrise Movement.
