Why we need the ERA.

Chuck Schumer

Friend,

America can never hope to be a land of freedom and opportunity if half its population is treated like second-class citizens.

That's why I proudly championed a resolution to finally add the Equal Rights Amendment to our Constitution -- and I won't stop until we get this done. If you're with me, sign your name now to help ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

Here's the hard truth: Attacks on reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy are getting worse.

That's why we need the Equal Rights Amendment. It would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex once and for all, providing a constitutional basis to protect abortion rights, end the wage gap, and more. Activists began campaigning for the ERA a full hundred years ago, and it's far past time we finished the job.

38 states have ratified the amendment. Now it's up to Congress to remove the final bureaucratic hurdle and guarantee equal rights for women.

But sadly, almost every single Republican senator voted against the Equal Rights Amendment. They don't care about enshrining these constitutional protections -- even as far-right extremists whittle away at fundamental reproductive rights.

So we need to show there's a huge grassroots movement that won't back down until we finally pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

I won't let them stop the movement for equality. I'm going to keep fighting for the Equal Rights Amendment, and I need to know you're with me. Sign on now to help pass the ERA:

Onward,

Chuck Schumer
