Like so many Americans, Trump’s attack on Medicare and Social Security hits close to home for me.

Drastic cuts to Medicare and Social Security seriously threaten the well-being of the most vulnerable among us -- impoverished communities, seniors, and those coping with disabilities in our country.

Those groups aren’t just abstract, distant concepts for me. I can put a name and a face to them, and I’m sure you can, too.

My mother, Peggy, is 98 years old and she relies on these programs like so many other Americans in Maryland and across the country. She’s the reason why I fight to protect these benefits every day in Congress and she’s the reason why I will fight each and every one of Trump’s attacks against them.
