Legislative Update
This weekend, we have both the fishing opener and Mother's Day to celebrate. I want to wish all the moms out there a Happy Mother's Day, and to everyone planning to be out on the water, good luck and be safe!
Most conference committees are still completing their work, however a lot of the negotiations are being done behind closed doors, with no input from the public or other legislators. The conference committee process is largely being ignored, with agreements being hammered out between the chairs and then being passed with little to no scrutiny. I continue to hope these bills come back better than they left the House.
On Monday, the House unanimously approved the Military and Veterans Omnibus conference committee report, which funds things like the Veterans Resilience Project, various military museums, and other programs across the state that support our veterans and military members. I was proud to vote in support of our veterans.

The rest of the omnibus conference committee reports came back from conference with some major problems that I just couldn't support. I will continue fighting to make the voices of District 1A heard on the issues coming before the House.
Great to see students from Marshall County Central on Thursday afternoon. Senator Mark Johnson and I joined the 6th grade class as they stopped by to tour the Capitol on their class trip to the Twin Cities & Duluth.
