We hope you have had a great week! Congressman Kim began the week in New Jersey, getting to speak with local non-profits and meet with this Spring’s intern cohort. In Washington for the rest of the week, Congressman Kim spoke about his efforts to ban congressional stock trading, met with constituent groups, attended several hearings, and continued his work on behalf of New Jersey’s 3rd District.

This past week, we celebrated National Nurses Day as well as Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to all our neighbors who work tirelessly in healthcare and in our schools, looking out for our kids and communities each and every day.

As we head into the weekend, we wish all moms a very Happy Mother’s Day and hope this weekend is relaxing and spent with loved ones. As always, we hope you find these updates and resources helpful!

UPCOMING: Congressman Kim to Host Town Hall During Asian American, Native Hawaiinn, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

It’s already time for our next monthly town hall! Next Friday the 19th at 6 PM, join Congressman Kim for his town hall in Marlboro. The town hall will begin with a performance by students from Marlboro’s Huaxia South Chinese School! In recognition of AANHPI Heritage Month, Congressman Kim will speak about his efforts to uplift the AAPI community and speak about his latest work in Congress on behalf of NJ-03.

When: May 19th at 6 PM

Where: The Little Theater (Room C101) at 95 N Main St, Marlboro, NJ 07746. All attendees should use the Main Athletics Entrance.

Congressman Kim and Bipartisan Group Push to Ban Stock Trading by Members of Congress

This week, Congressman Kim joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to continue his efforts to ban congressional stock trading, help restore lost faith and trust in our government, and strengthen our democracy.

In March, Congressman Kim reintroduced his bill to ban individual stock ownership across the federal government and make sure Americans have public servants' undivided attention.

Congressman Kim Highlights Local Funding Wins for Foster Care Youth

May marks National Foster Care Month! We are committed to continuing to find ways to help foster youth, including through delivering local funding to organizations critical to supporting these children.

Congressman Kim was proud to deliver local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) programs in Mercer and Ocean County funding to expand their services, recruitment, and volunteer training. CASA volunteers advocate for foster children in court and in the community and often serve as a critical support system for them.

In addition to these projects, Congressman Kim secured funding for a total of 15 of his FY2023 Community Project Funding Requests.

Congressman Kim Delivers Books for Local Students

This week, Congressman Kim delivered books to local non-profit DEON to go to local students through the Library of Congress’ Surplus Book Program. The program allows congressional offices to connect libraries, schools, and nonprofits to books. This is another great way we can support the power of reading in New Jersey!

Office Hosts Webinar on Foundation Grant Opportunities

This week, we hosted a webinar with an expert panel on covering how to access funding opportunities from private foundations. The conversation and our event partners covered how to:

Research foundation grant opportunities (NJ State Library)
Work with media outlets to amplify your mission (NJ Spotlight News)
Utilize resources for legal and nonprofit assistance (Pro Bono Partnership and NJ Center for Nonprofits)
Strengthen funder relationships (Grunin Foundation)
Maximize relationship with Congressional Offices to assist with grantmaking

Supporting Local Healthcare Workers and Needs

Ahead of National Nurses Week, last week Congressman Kim visited CentraState in Freehold to discuss ways to further support and expand our healthcare workforce.

For their service to our communities, we must ensure nurses and medical professionals have the resources they need and deserve.
