Making Memories in May

May is a pivotal month; from the holidays – May Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day – to celebrating graduations, mourning on Memorial Day, opening pools in the north, dodging severe weather in the south. There is so much to look forward to as the weather warms up across the country and everyone awaits their dream vacation of the year! As we take it all in, let’s stop to thank those around us, be grateful for the memories we are creating, and feel blessed to be where we are at the moment, whether we are living life to the fullest or fighting battles.

On Mother’s Day, rejoice for all the moms in this hectic world. The sacrifices they make for their children, as it should be.

As you attend graduations, send warm wishes to the “kids” about to go out into the world in a new capacity. Give them the tools that will help them succeed!

As many BBQ over the Memorial Day weekend, remember to recognize the service men and women who never had the chance to come home. Please say a prayer for their loved ones as well.

Although May brings about many positive elements, it also serves as mental health awareness month. As we come together to realize the stressors, fears, and anxiety that happen around us, remember to reach out to others to ensure we are all doing our part to support family, friends, and community members.

Explore ways you can be a positive force for those that need a helping hand:
  • Recognize Mental Health Matters
  • Practice or Promote Methods of Self-Care (hobbies or exercise)
  • Make a Point to Identify Resources for Others or Find Help
  • Create a Social Connection for Helping Others
  • Discover Community Outreach and Know Who is Watching Out for You if You Are in Crisis
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." - Marie Curie.

"Every one of us needs to show how much we care for each other and, in the process, care for ourselves."
- Princess Diana
