The northern long-eared bat has unfortunately come under threat from a disease known as “white-nose syndrome,” through no fault of humans, whatsoever. In response, federal bureaucrats have instituted a one-size-fits-all rule that does very little to protect the bats, but a whole lot to stifle key Oklahoma infrastructure projects. There is no reason to disproportionately increase regulatory burden and hinder economic development when this rule will not affect the primary cause of decline for the northern long-eared bat.

Today, I’m proud to announce that the U.S. Senate passed my legislation to strike down the Biden administration’s listing of the northern long-eared bat (NLEB) as ‘endangered’ under the Endangered Species Act. We must stop this reclassification and ensure Oklahoma and other impacted states can continue efforts to protect the northern long-eared bat without the heavy hand of the federal government getting in their way. As of midnight on Thursday, the Biden administration has let Title 42, President Trump's last remaining border protection policy, expire with no solution to handle the surge of migrants at the border. Joe Biden is single-handedly responsible for the worst border catastrophe in American history. He has abandoned our brave border patrol officers, empowered drug cartels and human traffickers, and exposed our country to a devastating fentanyl crisis. This is negligent and unforgivable. We MUST secure our border immediately.
