In July 2013, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution as a U.S. Senator.

Donald Trump took a similar oath -- an oath that he has since violated. That is why yesterday I followed through on my sworn duty as an impartial juror and voted to remove him from office.

Donald Trump is a corrupt president who lies to the nation, abuses his power, and undermines our democracy. He extorted foreign interference in our elections and then covered it up.

Most of my Republican colleagues failed this nation by letting him get away with it. They feared the president and their political future above all else.

Our democracy is worse off for it.

That makes the stakes of this year's elections even higher. The people of this country must loudly rebuke Republicans' cowardice at the ballot box.

It is not enough just to defeat Donald Trump. We must elect the most progressive president, Senate, and House in our nation's history. That is the only way we can begin the work of ending Washington corruption and restoring faith in democracy.

I'm in this race to help lead the movement of people who can do just that. Today, I'm asking you to help me continue fighting for our democracy and the working people of this country in the Senate:
