Unlike most other politicians, AOC doesn’t spend her time schmoozing for donations from big donors or at exclusive events. Instead, our campaign relies on online donations from supporters who give $5 or $10 at a time through emails like this one.
But, to be honest, fewer people donated through email the last couple of weeks than we expected.
Our campaign takes 0 corporate donations. There’s no super PAC or big donor coming in to protect us from the attacks constantly coming our way. So if our donations drop, as they have been starting to lately, we will have to reassess our budget and make tough cuts. And that’s not where we’d like to be almost halfway through the year.
