Police Week 2023
During Police Week, 2023, May 15?20, we will take the time to remember, to honor and to be grateful. We hold in memorial our own Officer Scott Patrick, #2231, who was shot on a traffic stop July 30, 2014.
This week feels especially important as we feel deeply connected to recent losses suffered by neighboring cities and states and we hold them close in our hearts and mourn with them. We feel deeply for the families and friends left behind.

Officer Scott Patrick Memorial 5K
On Saturday, June 3, we will gather to celebrate the life and service of Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick, with the 18th Annual Memorial 5K Run/Walk. Officer Patrick was killed in the line of duty in June 2014; and each year, the Officer Scott Patrick Memorial 5K is held in his memory, to support Special Olympics Minnesota and Northern Dakota County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.

Valley View Heights Playground Replacement
Demolition of the existing Valley View Heights Playground (1056 Cullen Ave.) is scheduled to begin Monday, May 15. Installation of new playground equipment is estimated to be complete by Friday, May 26. During this time, the playground area of the park will be closed.

Tree of the Month: Bur Oak
Bur Oak is a native shade tree species in the white oak family. It can grow up to a height of 80 feet and has a stately appearance, with branches that are large and spreading. Bur oaks have unique, deeply furrowed bark. Leaves are simple, alternate, and lobed. Bur Oaks need plenty of space, growing to a width of 80 feet.
