Kelly served as Senior Counsel to Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller during Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. And during his decades-long legal career in public service he also served at the FBI as a Section Chief responsible for the legal oversight of all FBI criminal and domestic terrorism investigations and programs and as the FBI’s Assistant Director for Congressional Affairs. His experience at the DOJ and FBI give him a unique perspective on the necessity of CREW’s work, and on the potential for more indictments for Donald Trump and legal peril for other insurrectionists.
