For over 30 years, Helen has stood up to the status quo and delivered results for Philadelphians.
She became the first Asian American woman to serve in the Philadelphia City Council in 2015, where she:
- passed legislation to protect low-wage workers being exploited in the retail and hospitality industries,
- created the first city fund to support homeless youth,
- partnered with student activists and won hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for lead abatement in every elementary school in the city,
- and created an anti-eviction program that reduced evictions by 70%.
