Hi friend, my name is HJ. I’m a UWDA member, a DACA recipient, and a mother of one.
The first time I applied for DACA, I had just learned I was pregnant with my son, Alex. I wanted to protect him and provide a healthy environment for him — and DACA was the best way to do that while undocumented.
DACA allowed me to provide for my son and live without the fear of arbitrary detention or deportation. But even I know it’s not enough — for me and Alex, for hundreds of thousands of other DACA families, and millions more who don’t qualify for the program.
It’s terrifying to think that one rogue judge could shut down DACA at any moment. I might lose my job, be separated from my son, or even be forced to leave the country I call home.
Friend, that’s the harsh reality for many mothers like me as long as DACA recipients lack permanent protections — which is why United We Dream Action is leading the fight to secure a pathway to citizenship.
Alex and I will continue to show up to rallies in Washington, D.C. and around the country to meet with members of Congress and make our demands for permanent protections undeniable. We need you in this fight too, team.
Before Mother’s Day, will you make a donation to support the millions of mothers like me who are fighting for a pathway to citizenship? We deserve to live without fear of being separated from our families.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
I’m a proud mother, sister, and immigrant woman. I’m happy to be an Alaskan, your neighbor, and a part of this amazing community.
This is home, and I’m here to stay.
Thank you for letting me share my story,
HJ, United We Dream Action
It's no secret that DACA is not enough. Maximize your impact on our work to win permanent protections for all 11 million by starting a monthly donation:
