Friend, Thanks to the help of supporters like you, 7,669 people have added their name to our petition urging the EPA to get chlormequat out of our food! But friend, I’m not seeing your name, and we need to keep this momentum going before the May 24 deadline. Take a look at your record below: |
|
Remember, chlormequat is an agricultural chemical that has been linked to reproductive and nervous system harm in animals. EWG has found concerning levels of chlormequat in 12 different popular oat-based products, which suggests that the dangerous agro-chemical is already in our food from imported crops. At the request of Big Ag, in 2017 the Trump EPA allowed trace amounts of chlormequat on imported oats and other crops. Now the agency is considering allowing chlormequat even on crops grown in the U.S., despite the growing evidence of human health risk. If we miss this chance to stop the EPA from approving chlormequat, we may not have another chance until the EPA reviews this chemical again – which could be as long as 14 years! |
