Hey,

I know it's been a while since you've heard from me (you may have heard I've been pretty busy in Congress these days), but I wanted to give you a quick update on the current state of affairs.

Over the last few weeks, I've been working overtime to protect our democratic institutions and uphold the rule of law without fear or favor. As a former Army Ranger, I took an oath to defend our democracy and the Constitution -- I'm not letting up now.

This week, Donald Trump delivered his annual State of the Union address. Instead of discussing a unifying vision for our nation's future, he chose to use campaign rally language filled with blatant displays of untruths, not the issues that Coloradans care about and the plan to address them.

Hard-working Americans, meanwhile, are worried about putting food on their table and affording health care. That's why I've made lowering prescription drug costs a focus of my first year in office, and why I brought Sue Way of Aurora as my guest to this year's State of the Union address.

Ms. Way is a retired nurse. After the cost of her insulin increased by over 500 percent last year, she was forced to ration her medication. Stories like Sue's are all too common for so many folks across the nation. Lives are literally on the line -- that's why I'm standing up and fighting to put people like Sue first.

After the events of the last several weeks, it's clear that the system isn't working. Corrupt and partisan politicians are doing everything they can to uphold the status quo. That's not me, team. I was sent to Congress to fight on behalf of working families, children, and seniors who deserve a fair shot at the American Dream.

I will never stop working to protect our Constitution -- but national Republicans can't stand that, and they're already spending lots of money to try and beat my grassroots team. That's why I need you to stand with me today and help push back against their attacks, now more than ever. If you're with me, add your name to join this movement now.

Thanks, as always, for your ongoing support in these trying times.
