Today, President Biden lifted one horrific policy—blocking and expelling asylum seekers under Title 42—only to replace it with another. Under the new asylum ban, LGBTQ refugees who seek protection from violence or death will be sent back into harm’s way.  

As a nation, we have promised to be a refuge for people fleeing persecution. And every time that promise is broken, Immigration Equality strives to restore and uphold it. An attack on asylum is an attack on our values. 

Make no mistake – we will continue to fight for LGBTQ and HIV-positive asylum seekers.
