Here are some court updates from today.

• The parties in Moore v. Harper submitted briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court arguing whether or not the Court still has jurisdiction to review the case and rule on the fringe independent state legislature theory given recent developments from the North Carolina Supreme Court. Here’s what each party argued.

• The New Hampshire Supreme Court held oral argument in an appeal of a decision dismissing a lawsuit alleging that the state Senate and Executive Council districts are partisan gerrymanders.

• The Washington Supreme Court heard a challenge to the state's Voting Rights Act. Learn more about how this case made it all the way to Washington's highest court here. 

Here are some legislative updates from the past few days.

• The Connecticut House passed an amendment to the state constitution to allow no-excuse mail-in voting. If passed by the Democratic-controlled Senate, the amendment will go before voters in 2024. Currently, the Connecticut Constitution only permits voters to vote by mail if they qualify with a few specific excuses, including sickness, physical disability or absence from the town on Election Day.

• Democratic U.S. senators introduced the Protecting Election Administration from Interference Act. The bill would expand criminal penalties for interfering with the counting and canvassing of ballots and the certification of election results.
