Israelis across southern and central Israel have endured an onslaught of continuous rocket fire from Islamic Jihad. More than 800 rockets have now been launched at Israeli citizens in the last two days, with Iron Dome intercepting over 180 rockets that would have otherwise crashed into Israeli cities and towns.
While Israel's defense systems work to shoot down incoming rockets, some rockets launched in massive and simultaneous salvos have reached their targets.
Direct hits were also reported at several sites across southern and central Israel, including at a bank in Sderot, a shopping mall in Bat Yam, and in other residental areas.
In response to the incessant rocket fire, the IDF has continued its operation to eliminate senior Islamic Jihad leaders and destroy their terror infrastructure.
“If the shooting at Israel continues, the strikes on Gaza will continue, including the continuation of the targeted attacks that exact other heavy prices from the Islamic Jihad," an Israeli official said.
Israel launched additional precision strikes on senior Islamic Jihad leaders today, targeting and killing the commander and deputy commander of the group's rocket launching force. Each played a direct role overseeing the rocket assaults on Israeli civilians.
As Israelis across the country stay close to bomb shelters and endure more onslaughts of rockets, the remarkable systems we lobby for continue to keep them safe and prevent unthinkable destruction.
You can find a two-page recap of events here, which I invite you to share with others about what's happening on the ground.
