John,
Last week we unveiled Sunrise’s 2020 strategy during launch parties held across the nation. Our launch video asked people to lend their voices to the movement by gathering a group of friends to start a strike circle, where they’ll learn about social movements and gather the tools they need to plan strikes throughout the year.
Already, 600 people have stepped up. If we reach 800, we can send a message so loud no one will be able to ignore it. Will you add your voice to the movement?
Sign up by Monday and get everything you need to start a strike circle of your own.
Watch this video to learn more about strike circles and how they’ll amplify our voices in 2020.
The video lays out our plan to win this year: Organize, Vote, Strike. Throughout history, young people have changed attitudes and legislation by gathering together. People like Gwendolyn Sanders, a 7th grader in Birmingham, Alabama, helped organize one of the most influential and iconic moments of the civil rights movement. When adults wouldn’t step up for fear of being arrested, she organized middle school and high school kids to change history. Today, we can use the same tactics to demand a Green New Deal.
Anyone can plan a strike and our program will break down how. We’ll help you learn about social movements and develop important organizing skills. Plus, we’ll give you tons of resources, like sample meeting agendas, a dashboard to track progress, and your very own coach to answer questions and guide you.
At the end of it all, you’ll have everything you need to gather a bunch of friends and join similar groups all across the country for massive strikes, like the ones coming up on Earth Day.
With enough voices, we can set the tone for the presidential election and ring in the Decade of the Green New Deal. We’re in this together.
Sign up to start your strike circle and add your voice to the movement.
