This isn't the news I wanted to share today, but it's important that you're kept in the loop about what's happening in my race.

Earlier this week, we got word that the National Republican Congressional Committee -- Kevin McCarthy's political arm -- has launched yet another wave of digital ads attacking me. They're running in my district as you read this email.

I'll admit, it's a bit jarring to see the Republicans up with attack ads this soon. I've been laser-focused on advancing bills to lower prescription drug cost, address climate change, and secure reproductive rights. Meanwhile, Kevin McCarthy is raising and spending record-shattering sums to unseat vulnerable Democrats like me.

Defending this seat was never going to be easy, and it's clear our work needs to start much sooner than we anticipated. That's why I need to ask:
