Thank you, Friend--
Even though SJR2 passed yesterday, I am so grateful to every one of
you who showed up, made calls, wrote to your legislators or made a
contribution. All of you are the bright light amidst the dark
cloud of this direct attack on our democratic rights. I'm proud of
what we're building together here in Ohio.
62 votes
for an August special election on making it more difficult to amend
Ohio's constitution
The vote was 62-37, with five Republicans voting with
Democrats against the plan: Reps. Jamie Callender, Jay
Edwards, Brett Hillyer, Jeffrey LaRe and Tom Patton. For six months,
our pro-democracy coalition fought against a GOP legislature playing
parlor tricks with Ohio law and misrepresenting their motives. But
yesterday, SJR 2 passed, setting up an August 8 election.
Now we mobilize and turn out in an unprecedented way on August
8 to show lawmakers how out of touch they are and how
their actions violate the will of the people they serve!
We are
joining together to protect the sacred principle of one person, one
vote in Ohio
We have joined one of the largest grassroots, citizen-driven,
non-partisan coalitions ever formed in Ohio to register,
educate and mobilize voters to say "Vote No in August!"
The relationship between Richard Uihlein, who
donated millions to overturn 2020 election results and this
effort to set an August election to amend the Ohio
constitution has been revealed. And it demonstrates what we're up
against.
We are canvassing right now about the August special election that will make it harder
for Ohioans to propose and pass their own laws. Most
people don't even know there's an election in August!
Please consider a
contribution so that we can stop the effort
to silence Ohio voters.
Let's get ready to Vote NO in
August!
