Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and I want to tell you about a Mother’s Day tradition that is close to my heart.
The Louis D. Brown Institute’s Mother's Day Walk for Peace (MDW4P) has been taking place in Boston for nearly three decades. The Walk is a testament to the ongoing work of creating safer, more peaceful communities. And it was where my mom, Sandy Pressley, took her last activist steps.
The Institute is a center for healing and learning for families who have been touched by grief, loss, and trauma, and the Mother’s Day Walk provides critical resources to support that work.
Will you join me in lifting up the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace and the Louis D. Peace Institute by making a donation today? Their goal is to raise $600,000 to support the work they do year-round to end cycles of trauma and violence.
With a contribution today, you can help family members and loved ones impacted by trauma and grief find peace and community.
In solidarity,
Ayanna Pressley
P.S. I am sending love to those with absent mothers, mothers who have passed, and all those who find Mother’s Day to be a difficult one.
